This qualification will combine theoretical knowledge in Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development with the practical skills needed to work within the sector.
The qualification will be designed for post-16 learners who want to enter employment or further education. Learners are strongly recommended to complete the Level 2 Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development: Core qualification prior to or alongside this qualification.

In addition, learners completing the Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice and Theory qualification, will also develop further understanding of Child Development and Childcare services in Wales.
Assessment approaches for the practice elements are in the process of being developed. Guidance will be provided on the structure and nature of assessment in summer 2018. The additional knowledge component will be assessed through an external examination.
