In response to feedback from customers, employers and our wider stakeholders we have reviewed the quality assurance and certification process currently used to certificate learners who are completing the following qualifications.
Our review has now concluded and we are pleased to confirm that from June 2023 approved centres meeting agreed quality criteria per qualification will be able to achieve DCS.
We acknowledge that not every approved centre will be able to achieve DCS for all qualifications immediately. However, our published quality criteria will provide much-needed clarity and will offer a framework for quality improvement supported by our team of External Quality Assurers (EQAs), and our Technical Adviser and Subject Officers.
Approved centres have shared concerns relating to an unintended impact of our Certification Windows. We are confident that our introduction of DCS will help to alleviate some of these challenges.
Whilst we will need to retain the concept of ‘windows’, moving forward our EQAs will be able to sample learners throughout their learning journey, and not just at the end. This small but important change, alongside DCS, will enable a more streamlined approach to learner progression and certification. This will enable approved centres to progress their learners more quickly thereby alleviating reported pressures associated with funding and delayed career advancement.
