We have made some changes to the qualification handbook covering:

We are pleased to launch our very first Spring edition of the (8040-02) HSC Core Examiners Report. 

This is available on the qualification page under ‘Key documents and course materials’.

The report has been developed to be used as a feedback tool for centres to enhance teaching and preparation for the 8040-02 HSC Core qualification.

The report provides general commentary on pass marks and how candidates performed each of the tests and highlights common themes in relation to technical aspects explore within the assessments.

We will publish both a Spring and an Autumn edition of the report.

A recent review of learner registration periods associated with the suite of HSC (8040) and CCPLD (8041) qualifications has identified some inconsistencies with our standard expectations. Considering this we have taken steps to ensure that the registration periods are, as far as possible, consistent across the suite, and provide learners with a reasonable period of time to attain their qualification. 

Automatic re-registration for learners

In light of the level of disruption caused by the pandemic, we have extended the registration period for one year for all registered learners completing the following qualifications. 

This extension applies to learners registered by 12 February 2022 on the following qualifications:

Health and Social Care:

• 8040-02 Level 2 HSC Core
• 8040-04 Level 2 HSC Practice: Adults
• 8040-05 Level 3 HSC Practice: Adults
• 8040-06 Level 3 HSC Practice: Children and Young People
• 8040-08 Level 4 Professional Practice
• 8040-09 Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in HSC
• 8040-10 Level 5 Leadership and Management in HSC
• 8040-11 Level 4 Adult Placement/Shared Lives
• 8040-12 Level 4 Independent Advocacy
• 8040-13 Level 4 Social Services Practitioner

Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development

• 8041-13 Level 2 CCPLD: Practice
• 8041-15 Level 3 CCPLD: Practice
• 8041-16 Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in CCPLD
• 8041-17 Level 4 Professional Practice in CCPLD
• 8041-18 Level 5 Leadership and Management in CCPLD

How will learners be re-registered?

We have automatically extended the learner registration periods all learners who were registered by 12 February 2022.  If you think that a learner has been overlooked, please let us know by contacting  hclw.customer@cityandguilds.com

Will the registration period change for new learners?

Learners registered from 12 February 2022 to complete the Level 2 and Level 3 Practice qualifications and/or the Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications will have up to 3yrs to complete their qualification from the point of registration, or by the end certification date, whichever is soonest.

We have reviewed the end registration dates and end certification dates of the suite of qualifications and have made some changes to end certification dates. These amendments are in the process of being amended on the Qualifications in Wales (qiw.wales).

This may take several weeks. The table below shows the revised end registration and end certification dates
